What is Beszel?

Beszel is a lightweight self-hosted server observability platform that collects historical metrics, resource utilization data, and container statistics through a web interface. The solution supports monitoring of CPU, memory, disk subsystem, network, and basic node health parameters without requiring deployment of a complex telemetry system. This approach is well suited for small to medium-sized infrastructures where fast deployment, clarity, and minimal environment requirements are critical.

The Beszel monitoring functionality enables real-time visibility into workload changes, anomaly detection, and alerting for CPU, memory, disks, network, temperature, and overall system health. For containerized nodes, the solution provides dedicated historical usage metrics for CPU, memory, and network across Docker and Podman, simplifying operational control of container environments.

A key advantage of Beszel is its support for multi-user operation, automated backups, authentication via OAuth/OIDC, and access through an application programming interface (API). This allows the tool to be used not only as a local metrics dashboard but also as a foundational operational observability layer in a self-hosted environment with multiple users and controlled access.
