VMware NSX is a network virtualization and micro-segmentation platform designed for creating and managing software-defined networks (SDN) in data centers and hybrid clouds. The platform fully abstracts the network infrastructure from physical hardware, enabling the implementation of virtual networks, routing, firewalls, and load balancing directly at the hypervisor level.
VMware NSX provides micro-segmentation at the level of individual virtual machines or containers, built-in security services (Distributed Firewall, Gateway Firewall), support for overlay networks (VXLAN/Geneve), integration with Kubernetes (NSX Advanced Load Balancer, Tanzu), and automated policy management. The platform supports multi-layered threat protection, traffic encryption, flow analysis, and integration with monitoring and orchestration systems.
VMware NSX is widely used as a foundation for secure, scalable, and isolated network architectures in private, public, and hybrid clouds, ensuring Zero Trust, high performance, and ease of scalability without the need for physical hardware reconfiguration.
