Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is a cloud computing model where the provider delivers virtualized computing resources, including processing power, memory, network infrastructure, and storage systems. Within the Infrastructure as a Service model, the user independently manages operating systems, applications, and environment configurations, while the physical infrastructure, hypervisors, and underlying network architecture are the responsibility of the provider. This model is implemented through scalable virtualization clusters, software-defined networks, and distributed storage.
IaaS supports dynamic resource allocation, deployment automation, workload isolation, and pay-as-you-go billing. The architecture includes mechanisms for high availability, backup, and integration with monitoring systems and access control. Infrastructure as a Service is used for hosting enterprise applications, test environments, analytical systems, and high-performance services without the need for investment in proprietary data centers.
